The most suitable yoga exercise for a yoga student is Baddha Konasana. It is performed while sitting on the floor and is considered to be an important part of yoga asanas.
Yoga practitioners who have started their practice with the help of this exercise asanas will agree that it is much more effective than other exercises like Padmasana and Bhastrika. The major advantage of Baddha Konasana is that the proper alignment of the spine is maintained. And to attain it the student must sit in a straight position, i.e. on the floor. The student must keep his feet flat on the floor and hold the back of the knees with his hands.
As the student inhales, bring the torso towards the hips and inhale again, letting the chest come forward. Inhale slowly as this helps you to reduce the tension in the muscles and in turn the back muscles.
For Hindu people the process of descent is considered to be better than ascent. This is because they believe that when the descent happens before the ascent, the abdomen comes up higher than its natural position. And when the legs come down first and the arms come next the inverted triangle is created. This state of yoga brings about a balance between the five different dishes.
The most important part of the exercise is the posture itself, i.e. the perfect alignment of the spine.
As soon as the spine has been brought into the correct position, keep the feet together and open the thighs. And then roll down with the left leg and the left foot with the right. Hold the position till the knees are a little below the ankles. Raise the right leg and keep the foot flat on the floor.
After the student has completed the entire posture and took a deep breath, he can gently exhale the air from the mouth. Then fold both hands over the back and exhale the breath.
Yoga practitioners must be very careful while doing this pose. If not careful, this post may cause injury.
