There are some things that human beings do naturally that we don't even realize. Things like eating, bathing, walking, etc...Are just normal and most of us take them for granted. But when we are mindful of them, we notice that they are vital parts of our lives. Being present in the moment of these activities, especially when they aren't really in tune with our emotions and energy, will allow us to start noticing these feelings and letting them go.
Becoming aware of the world around us can help us become more mindful of ourselves, which then leads to increased happiness and joy. Mindfulness is not about being objective; rather, it is about being present in the present moment. We can begin by feeling the difference between our thoughts and our feelings and then noticing when our thoughts are taking over our feelings. By paying attention to these thoughts and feelings, we can begin to notice where our attention goes, and what is happening in our body, mind, and emotions.
Thoughts are our thoughts and feelings are our feelings. Whenever we become aware of where our thoughts are taking us, or what our thoughts are doing to our feelings, we can get back in the present moment and refocus our attention, and our awareness, in a state of connectedness. In the present moment, we become aware of our feelings, and we experience gratitude, compassion, and a higher level of happiness.
This state of connectedness is a perfect time to start feeling the love for others, even if it is something that you are not capable of doing yet. We can practice feeling love for someone that we know nothing about. If you want to be more mindful of your actions and reactions, consider how loving you can be toward someone that you really know nothing about. Take time to just be present in this moment, and ask yourself, "What is my intention in this moment?"
Then, become more mindful of the love and connection you are generating with this new person. This is how you become a more conscious, more joyful person, even if you are not aware of it at the moment. Taking time to be mindful of the small things, and doing what is necessary to experience what is good in this life, is how you become a mindful person.
