Trikona Asana, or Vermillion Pose, is a Sanskrit word that literally means "five curves". If you consider the heart as a circle, it has five lobes, and each lobe has a different function. The abdomen, the navel, the breasts, and the upper back are also all located within the heart. By performing this pose correctly, you can bring about the five vital energies into your life.
From the seated position, make sure that your feet are placed slightly apart, with the soles of your feet touching, and the knees slightly bent, but not locked. The position of your hands should be parallel to the floor. From this position, place your palms on your lower abdomen, and your thumbs should be pointing towards your tailbone.
To begin the Pranayama, inhale through the nose and let the breath leaves your body as a trickle. Focus your attention on the center of your chest and the area just above your heart. The flow of your breath will help calm your mind and soothe the tensions of the body. Imagine that your breath is a delicate, delicate flower blossoming out from the center of your body. Your attention will then be focused on your breath-soothing waves that will nourish your body and bring it to a state of relaxed health.
From the center of your chest, draw your right hand down through your navel and towards your spine, and in front of your right hip. With your fingertips touching, make sure that your thumb is pointed directly at your heart.
Inhale as you draw your left hand up through your right side of your stomach and making sure that your fingers remain parallel to the floor, pull your right knee upwards towards your heart. When your knee is parallel to the floor, slowly exhale, and direct your attention to your right ear, gently massaging and soothing the area.
Inhale into Siddhasana, and as you exhale, draw your right leg up towards your chest, pressing gently but firmly against the floor. While doing this, you should feel a gentle but firm contraction of your pelvic floor muscles. As you exhale, release the contraction by gently pulling your knee away from your heart. Let the muscles relax, and repeat these steps until your muscles are fully relaxed.
From Siddhasana, stand straight, keeping your shoulders squared. Once your muscles are completely relaxed, allow your heart to expand and soften, and allow yourself to become centered in the heart. Your energy will flow naturally through you and your entire body will begin to heal and regenerate.
The Pose of Trikona Asana is an excellent choice for Yoga practice as a substitute for Kundalini Yoga postures. It provides many benefits, including relaxation, physical relief, and a deep meditation experience. It is also an excellent choice for people who suffer from back pain.
